The royal family of Sweden has captured the entire continent’s attention with their glamorous crown jewels. They have been displayed to the public eyes on various occasions. It occurred around noon on Tuesday. Two thieves stole the jewels which were on display in a glass box in the cathedral. The two men raced down on women’s bikes and sped away on a speedboat across Malaren Lake. This lake spans 74 miles and is filled with hundreds of small islands. Even though the royal family appears to have insurance covering the jewels, officials stressed that their value could hardly be measured or replaced. A manhunt with the aid of a helicopter and several boats was conducted soon after. This has yielded no results or substantial evidence about the whereabouts of the perpetrators.
These forms of daylight jewel heists are a popular topic in Hollywood movies. The largest number of jewel heists have recently occurred in France. One of the most recent ones was orchestrated a criminal organization from the Balkans. They robbed a jewellery store in St. Tropez, southern France.
But despair is not the answer to this problem, say many Swedish officials. Sweden’s crown jewels are not something a lot of people would want to handle. They are widely known and recognized so it is inevitable that they will be recovered soon.
Sweden’s crown jewel theft is not only a criminal offence but an act against history. Common people won’t be able to view the jewels for a few months or years to come.
